Join The Book of Kin

The Book of Kin is our curated directory of designers and makers. It is rooted in the belief that small, local and responsible ways of making are not a niche, but a necessary foundation for the future.

We are inspired by practices that work at a human scale. When relationships are close, then accountability is part of everyday life and designers remain connected to the materials, places and communities they work within.

We want to nourish a world shaped by many centres of making rather than a single dominant system. A world where garments are not anonymous products, but expressions of care and skill, made by people for people and their communities.

The Book of Kin exists as a cultural map that shows how a more regenerative fashion culture is already taking shape.

What does being part of the Kin mean?

  • Your work appears in The Book of Kin, an editorially curated directory that brings together practices rooted in care, craft and ecological responsibility.

It is read by an international community seeking depth, context and long-term thinking around clothing culture.

    This includes:
    • a considered profile in the Kin directory
    • inclusion in the Kin archive
    • presence across our editorial work

  • The Book of Kin is a curatorial framework that informs our editorial thinking. When developing stories and fashion editorials, we often return to the directory as a starting point, allowing certain practices to come into focus.

This may lead to invitations into:
    • conversations or studio practice stories
    • thematic fashion editorials
    • print or digital storytelling

In this way, Kin members remain part of our ongoing editorial awareness.

  • Being part of Kin means being part of a small, loosely connected group of makers, designers and thinkers who care about how clothing is made and why it matters.

It’s a place shaped by shared values, mutual respect, and a belief in slower, more considered ways of working.

Active Kin members are invited to join a shared WhatsApp group – a gentle peer space for sharing experiences, questions and knowledge.

Participation is optional and expectations are kept intentionally light to respect everyone’s capacity.

How to become part of the Kin

  • The Book of Kin is for independent brands, designers and makers who:

    • work with a strong craft and material integrity
    • take ecological and social responsibility seriously
    • value transparency and openness
    • care about how, where and why things are made
    • see their work as part of a broader cultural and ecological shift

We work with clothing, accessories, jewellery, homeware, textile, fibre and workshop-based practices.

  • We curate with care and attentiveness and take time to understand how practices work, what they prioritise and how responsibility is held across their making.

The Book of Kin is intentionally selective. We look for clarity, integrity and values-alignment.
