The Lissome is sustained by its readers

The Lissome is an independent cultural initiative and publication created by a small and dedicated team, without institutional funding.

Membership allows this work, and the slower, collaborative processes behind it, to continue and deepen. It provides the ground that makes careful storytelling, thoughtful research and meaningful collaboration possible.

The Lissome was born from a longing to imagine a more beautiful way of life, rooted in care, craft and the wisdom of the living world.

Through our annual print magazine and the Lissome Letter, our monthly newsletter on Substack, we explore clothing, culture and the systems we inhabit. Essays, conversations and visual stories bring together writers, artists, photographers and makers who are rethinking how we live, create and relate to the living world.

Our work moves slowly and intentionally. Each piece is carefully developed in collaboration with a circle of contributors whose practices span craft, ecology, design and cultural research.

A small note

Membership is what allows The Lissome to exist as an independent publication.

If this work resonates with you, becoming a member is one of the most meaningful ways to support it.

The Lissome in print

Alongside the newsletter, we publish a beautiful annual print magazine.

Other ways to support The Lissome:

Contributions

The Lissome is sustained primarily by its readers.
In addition to membership, some supporters choose to contribute through one-time donations.

These contributions help us commission essays, collaborate with artists and photographers, and continue developing the publication with care.

Partnerships

We occasionally collaborate with aligned organisations, cultural institutions and brands whose work resonates with the values explored in The Lissome.

Partnerships may include:

• narrative sponsorship of specific editorial themes
• collaborations around exhibitions, talks or gatherings
• support for special storytelling projects

These collaborations are developed thoughtfully and always respect the editorial independence of the publication.

If you are interested in exploring a partnership, please get in touch with us:

A note on independence

The Lissome is an independent publication. Reader membership forms the foundation that allows this work to exist, while contributions and aligned collaborations help us deepen and expand what we can create.
