Wol Hide / USA
Founded by Leah D’Ambrosio in Philadelphia in 2015, Wol Hide began with a desire to make clothing as close to its natural origins as possible, while revealing the beauty of the materials themselves. Its sourcing is organised around a small number of carefully considered fibre systems: organic cotton made in the USA from seed to garment, regenerative Peruvian alpaca, and Field Fiber, an undyed domestic cotton-and-wool yarn.
Production takes place in the USA and Peru through supply chains built slowly through partnerships and relationships. For Leah, knowing where a material comes from, how it has been processed and being able to trust the people along that chain is central to responsible production. Small seasonal collections grow from a foundation of core styles, allowing customers to buy thoughtfully rather than continually replace what they own. Using the same materials season after season also helps Wol Hide keep production small and reduce material waste.
